Spells: Unleash Your Magic Powers (Amazing You) ReviewI love Teresa moorey's writing,she's one of my favourite authors,so I read anything I come across by her,and I'm glad I do otherwise I'd have overlooked this great book.Even though its written for kids/teens most of the time you can't tell.
Chapter 1 'magical you' gives a short quiz to get an idea of your magical talents,advice on starting out and getting in touch with nature,tells about the importance of visualization and relaxation.
Chapter 2 'Getting the gear' tells you about the tools you'll need (wand,chalice,stone,candles etc),no mention of the athame but I guess some parents wouldn't like their kids to have a knife,and there are some witches who prefer the wand or use a wooden athame anyway,disliking blades.Gives a simple method of casting a magic circle.
Chapter 3 'All loved up' gives simple easy love spells to try;a rose quartz charm,apple spell,melting moments drink spell,amongst others.
Chapter 4 'Beautiful you' gives spells like 'True beauty' and 'zap the zit' along with a spell to attract cash and new clothes and a spell to improve self-esteem.
Chapter 5 'Magical mates' gives spells to attract friends,to bring you closer,recover from a mean friend,face pack beauty spell for a sleepover (although you can use it alone if you want).
Chapter 6 'School's cool' gives spells for confidence,to bind a bully,improve mental abilities and an interview charm (all these spells can be used for college or work situations by adults).
Chapter 7 'Fab families' gives spells to purify the house,bring peace,communication, and an anti-grumps chocolate spell-which I love and use often.
chapter 8 'Potions class' gives recipes for 'Hot stuff','Cheery chocolate','friendship potion' and a potion for sleep along with a few others.
Chapter 9 'On the side of light' gives spells to heal pets,friends and the earth.
chapter 10 'Magical future' gives a spell to find your power symbol.
Also has an appendix with magical correspondences and gives an exercise to test what you've learned by getting you to put together your own spells.
All the spells are easy and need only a few ingredients,all of which are easy to get hold of.
A light introduction to magic,good for beginners of any age.
