A world in spell, ReviewWritten in 1936 and projecting into 1973, this book is relevant even today. It is a delightful novel.It is about individuals who do not die in a world wide cataclysmic event. It covers how people with a standard of morals continue in a world with a very limited population and how they deal with others who have a different mind set. There is also a scientist who predicted the event, has saved families using his own criteria and how these individuals handle their situation when the scientist starts making all the decisions.
It would have made a very good episode for "The Twilight Zone".
As usual with a D. E. Stevenson novel they all live happily ever after. And isn't that what we are looking for in this day and age.
Warning: some of the language is very British and some of the guesses of what a world almost 40 years in the future will be like make for some smiles.
