The Sorcerer's Songs ReviewAdam is a scorecerer with magical powers and is afraid of it's strength, so therefore runs from everyone and everything that he's held dear, especially his one and only love Stacey. Too afraid of hurting her, he's lived the past twenty years on the road, a loner, with nothing or no one to keep him company except for his guitar and the string of meaningless one night stands in his wake.
He can't get Stacey out of his head and decides to finally return to his home town. Only to find that Stacey has returned recently as well. His love for her soars, and he's willing to do anything to make things up to her,serenading her and all, and although devastated she wants nothing more than to enact what they should have had all those years before by becoming physically intimate. She finally pries his secret out of him as he saves her from becoming severely hurt. Scaring her at first, she then has to decide to take him how he is with powers and all, or to let him walk right back out of her life for good...
Getting into this book I knew that this story was very heartfelt, and it made me not only enjoy, but appreciate it because of it's meaning. I loved that Ms. Howell derived this story through her husbands songs, and through the words encorporated a very enjoyable paranormal romance.

The rhythms in his head stirred his heart. For a man of magic, a sorcerer with powers he had never asked for, his musical talents were sung spells. They were his weapon of defense against loneliness, bringing people to him like a siren's song. Yet, for the most part, he let his music haunt the deeper needs of those who listened-letting musical phrasings stir wants unnamed or purposely forgotten. Although he felt but a living and breathing jukebox, these strangers who came to see him play were the only lives he could touch. He reached out to them with his songs. That is until one night one of Adam's songs lures him back toward his hometown, and he calls out for Stacey, the one he was forced to leave behind all those years ago. Only this time she wants answers as to why he left, and maybe a bit of revenge for the heart he destroyed. I wrote The Sorcerer's Songs using my husband's song lyrics to create the plot. It was a lot of fun to write, and a great writing exercise! I think I was so inspired by his music that the story practically wrote itself.
