Shades of Magic ReviewShades of Magic is a very well written story following Edgar, Magnus, Adelaide, and Hestia. Edgar is a young man who has no real direction in life until he begins to travel with his uncle Magnus. Magnus is one of the greatest wizards alive who also happens to be Edgar's uncle. Adelaide is a young woman apprenticed to a very well known healer named Hestia.
When the wizards council meets about the fact that magic seems to be fading Magnus is given the task of figuring out what to do. He has an idea of how to fix everything so he and Edgar set out. They first travel to meet Hestia and Adelaide who can both use magic as well, but as women could be put to death for doing so. The group of four adventurers set out to retrieve a very special crystal hidden deep in a series of caves.
I truly enjoyed the characters interactions and the pace at which the story develops. K.D. Wilson has a lot of potential and I will be looking for anymore work of hers in the future.Shades of Magic Overview

Dorothea's Song Review"Dorothea's Song" by Ron Vitale mixes a modern (or at least the recent past) coming of age story with a grand fantasy quest. The author is able to juggle the requirements of both genres very well. The narrator is a high school student who is writing a fantasy story as a translation exercise for his French class. The fantasy story is where the title comes from and it involves elves, witches and large battles. In the modern chapters the author really captures the spirit of youth, his narrator seems real and not a cardboard thin character. Highly recommended.Dorothea's Song OverviewPeter is your typical high school student, but when his mother's failing marriage to his stepfather begins to split his family apart he copes by dreaming up the story of Dorothea, an elf who lives in the magical Bois d'or forest. Seizing the opportunity to release his frustrations in his French teacher's nightly writing assignment, Peter shares Dorothea's story with his teacher, imagining a world in which a coven of witches, a renegade elf lord and the humans have joined forces to conquer the elvish forest. With the Bois d'or on the verge of being invaded, Dorothea and her friends embark on a quest to find the wizard Mohan who will help them save their homeland. But the witches have other plans. They have set the three ancient evils of Anger, Fear and Lust against Dorothea. Can Dorothea survive the three curses and find Mohan in time to save her homeland? Dorothea's fate is in Peter's hands, but as his mother's marriage deteriorates and his infatuation with his French teacher increases, he must find a way to rise above the insanity and save not only Dorothea's home but also his own.

The Young Guardians and the Genesis Spell ReviewI could not even finish this book it was so badly written. The writing was so bad and was so full of idea's stolen ideas from several comic book stories. It was a waste of good money. Do not buy.The Young Guardians and the Genesis Spell Overview

How Do You Spell G-E-E-K ReviewThis book was fairly engaging, and I cared about the main character and the issues she was grappling with: her parents' recent divorce and the fact that her mom doesn't seem to have time for her; being asked to mentor a new and highly uncool student at her middle school, and the repercussions on her social status; and her best friend's jealousy of her developing friendship with that new student. But that said, younger students (such as the third graders I teach) won't be able to relate to those issues. Although this book isn't a challenging read, it's really for 5th grade (at a minimum - more likely 6th grade) and up.How Do You Spell G-E-E-K Overview
