The Magic of Two (Love Spell Futuristic Romance) ReviewI really enjoyed this book. It moved a little slow until about half way through it, but it was worth the wait to read. There were so many questions that I had, then it really started to take off once they got to the "Valley". The ending was a little strange though. It didn't totally answer all my questions about the "demons" and how they got to the valley in the first place. This is most definately not a quick read. Like I said it is slow almost dragging in the beginning, but it makes up for it at the end by explaining most of the history about why these two people got kicked out. It doesn't however describe why these two are being let back in. If you sit down to read this book, have lots of time or plan on putting it down. The Magic of Two (Love Spell Futuristic Romance) Overview

Forsaken By Shadow (Mirus (1.1)) ReviewI enjoyed this novella very much. It was exactly the kind of quick PNR read I was in the mood for after a long day. The characters are intelligent and sexy and I found the paranormal aspects to be fresh and interesting. Definitely going to read more by Kait Nolan.Forsaken By Shadow (Mirus (1.1)) Overview**Forsaken By Shadow is also included in the omnibus Genesis, along with Devil's Eye and Blindsight. Buy all three and save!**A Novella of the Mirus (1.1):Cade Shepherd is on top of the world as this year's Ultimate Fighting Champion. He doesn't even remember his life as Gage Dempsey, a Shadow Walker with the ability to magically transport himself from shadow to shadow. In fact, he can't remember anything before waking up in a cheap motel room ten years ago with mysterious burns on his hands-not even the woman he almost died for.Embry Hollister has picked up the pieces of her life, learned to control her ability to generate flame, and now works an enforcer for the Council of Races. But when her father is captured by the human military and the Council refuses mount a rescue mission, Embry has no choice but to go rogue. All she has to do is find the man with the new name and new life who was completely wronged by her people, give him back the memories they stole, convince him to join her on what's probably a suicide mission, and hope that after ten years of living as a regular guy he still remembers what her father taught him.And after that, she just has to leave him. Again.EXCERPT:“Do you have any idea how many rules Adan violated with you? Bringing a human into our world?" The demand came from the Walker on the left. His dark face was barely differentiated from the shadows in which he stood. The outlines of his broad body were still blurred.“I know he gave me my life." Gage edged backward, trying to push Embry into a corner.“A mistake we intend to rectify before it destroys him," said the wraith.“No!" The heat behind him was instant, scorching.Gage turned toward her, shouting, “Embry, no!" But the fireballs were already flying from her hands toward the two flanking Walkers. They phased out even as Matthias dove forward and caught Gage around the waist.Matthias was the bigger man, but Gage was younger, faster. He twisted and threw the Walker into a wall, already scrambling toward Embry. She was a living flame, more than ever the child of her fire elemental mother. Heat and light pulsed off her in waves, expanding, beating in a terrifying rhythm as the nimbus grew and grew.If she went nova, she'd kill them all.Gage dove into the light, feeling no burn, no pain, just desperation to save her. If he could drag her out of the light and into the shadows, he could get her away to safety. Drawing on the darkness, he reached out for her. “You have to shut it off!"“No, you don't underst-"His hands closed around her arms. For a heartbeat everything stilled. Then, agony ripped through him, an insatiable inferno of pain as everything she was projecting shot into his body and ripped him apart.***Looking for fabulous and inventive YA? Try Susan Bischoff!

Electra Galaxy's Mr. Interstellar Feller (Love Spell) ReviewI wish PBB's review was here when I ordered this book and I could have saved my money. What was suppose to be a lighthearted futuristic romance with laughs was anything but.
Sagan Carter, an Earth policewoman, meets up with Captain Keir Trask, an Oceanun, and together they are suppose to thwart an intergalactic weapons plot in L.A. that could potentially kill thousands from throughout the galaxy. Within a week they clash because of their dominant personalities but still pine for each other. The weapons plot is passed back and forth throughout the story and the romance is weak and unbelievable between Sagan and Keir. There are hidden lies and Keir cannot even trust his best friend and second-in-command even though they have known and worked with each other for years.
I figured out who the No. 1 Baddie was long before it was revealed and, yes, there is unnecessary meanness and spite which doesn't help the storyline. If anything it diminished it. All over a sad excuse for romance, mystery, and humor. Save your money, you've been warned.Electra Galaxy's Mr. Interstellar Feller (Love Spell) Overview

Knight's Fork (Love Spell Futuristic Romance) Review
Volnoth Queen Consort Electra loves her mate Viz-lgerd, but knows they are checked when it comes to siring a child. She chooses Rhett as the sperm pawn for her offspring. However, she is unaware of two key facts about the pawn she has chosen. First he is the son of Volnoth's greatest enemy Ala'Asrer-Djalet, who is better known as the Saurian Dragon of the Djinn family; second he adheres to his vow of chastity.
Electra and Rhett are surprised by finding themselves attracted to one another. However, her brother Prince Tarrant-Arragon assumes they are having an affair. He insures they are trapped together on their way to earth. As they fall in love, his amoral father and her outraged family insist something must be done to the assumed lovers.
The latest chess futuristic romance (see FORCED MATE and INSUFFICIENT MATING MATERIAL) is once again a strange but well written and fascinating tale. The story line is character driven as Electra tries to checkmate her reluctant knight. Fans will enjoy the latest sci fi romance from the creative Rowena Cherry as she has aliens falling into a taboo love which makes make for an intriguing albeit weird but entertaining saga.

No Words Alone (Love Spell Futuristic Romance) ReviewXera-Harris-d had hoped to find adventure when she signed up as a translator for a Galactic Explorers team. The experience sours quickly as she discovers the G.E. is far less than ethical. When the captain orders the team to explore a planet in Scorpio space in direct violations of I.C. treaty, a battle ensues which results on both their vessel and one of the Scorpio's crash landing on the planet which as it turns out is extremely hostile to both life forms. As the only woman on either team, she is in a uniquely dangerous position. Who to trust?
The decision is not an easy one as the first crew member to approach the Scorpio is shot down in cold blood by their ship's flame eyed commander. This is later explained away as a cultural insult. Still our hero has not made a very sympathetic beginning. However the Scorpio are familiar with the planet, its hazards and know where to take refuge. It quickly becomes obvious that in order to survive the G.E. crew will have to trust the Scorpio at least temporarily.
After braving the dangerous terrain the combined group finds shelter. Xera is quickly pushed into service by her insecure and irrational captain. She soon realizes that she has been set up as scapegoat for any disagreements or misunderstandings. She also realizes that friendly help may not be quick in arriving and that as the only female in either crew she would have to sleep with one eye open. But while the Scorpio are a patriarchal society, they revere woman. Her own crew is not so noble. When Xera's captain abuses her, the Scorpio Commander, Ryven Atarus, takes her as a war prize and installs her as the Scorpio Ambassador to her home world.
As expected the Scorpio rescue ship arrives first, leaving the enemy G.E. crew as bargaining chips. But Commander Atarus has special plans for Xera. On the Scorpio world it quickly becomes apparent that Xera's new appointment is to be a mere formality. Ryven is Scorpio nobility and heir to one of the ruling powers of his world. He plans to wed her and protocol insists that she be of equal rank in order for the ceremony to take place. With her home world far away on the other side of a wormhole, Xera accepts her fate knowing that she will never see her family again and expects to be branded a traitor among her own people.
Ryven is not without compassion and promises to delay the wedding night until Xera can contact her sister with the news. Suffice it to say that this is not a case of dubious consent, but Ryven also has enemies and Xera could easily become a pawn once more.
I love futuristic romance and am always looking for new authors to read, and have heard great things about Ms. Dawns previous e-published novels. I've also known Dorchester publishing to put out some spectacular futuristic romances in the past, so it pains me to have to say that I found myself somewhat disappointed with this one. The premise had great promise and the last paragraph which tied in to the title was great, but the tale that went before it robbed it of it's "awwwww" factor.
First the characters failed to stir my emotions. Xera was ambivalent at best. She thought constantly about how she missed her family but never made any attempt to escape. She had every excuse in the book, the distance, the danger, etc. One might accept that she was lukewarm about escape because she was so in love with her new husband but the romance didn't gel for me either.
Xera comes to believe that Ryven is schooling her in how not to show affection in public but not once does she try to break down that wall and force him to tell her how he feels. In fact the only time Xera showed strong emotions (outside of a few love scenes) was in her relationships with the two other downtrodden women in the story, Ryven's divorced sister and the Leo slave.
The reader is supposed to understand that the Scorpio culture is different, that public and verbal displays of affection are unseemly and the females know that their men's actions speak of their love for them. But the two are apart for significant time periods of time and if Xera doesn't get it, why should the reader? Even when Xera discovers that the two races are genetically compatible, she is horrified rather than pleased. I just didn't get it. I will definitely give the author another try, but if you are thinking about exploring futuristic romance for the first time, but if you are thinking about exploring futuristic romance for the first time, you might want to start out with one of her other works.

The Spells Trouble ReviewCan a holistic, vegetarian witch and a blood sucking vampire find true love? If you had asked Arianna Belford that before that eventful Halloween night she and her friends spent at the Crypt Casino, she would have said no. That's why she makes it a rule to not date vampires - ever.
Jake, the sexy vampire bartender at the casino, won't take no for an answer when he meets the beautiful witch, and he swiftly proves to Arianna that there is an exception to every rule...
But another vampire has set his sights on Arianna this night - and it is up to Jake to keep her alive!
Cobblestone Press's Vegas Magic series is a trilogy of connected stories by three different authors whose skills and imagination complement each other very well. The Vegas Magic stories star three friends who arrive at the Crypt Casino in Las Vegas to celebrate Halloween night. They separate almost immediately upon arrival, and each book is told from the perspective of a different woman, and centers on her romance.
While the books do ask that the reader suspend disbelief a bit, as each of the friends finds true love on the same night and in the same place, the effect of the three perspectives is undeniably fun! Each of the books is peppered with tidbits from the other two women's stories, which enhances each of the stories. While the three stories share a setting, each has a different antagonist to challenge the leading couple.
After reading one of the books in this series, I knew I had to read all of them right away, and I was not disappointed in any of them. Although the books' storylines are closely integrated, and the timelines are simultaneous, they can be read in no particular order without spoiling the experience at all.
I have to say, Shelli Stevens hit me right where it counts by pairing a vegetarian with a vampire in her addition to the Vegas Magic series, This Spells Trouble! When a sexy story makes me laugh, it is a winner in my book every time! I sincerely hope Stevens uses the same ironic wit in her other books, because I will definitely be buying more of her work after reading this one!
Stevens easily holds her own with the other authors in the Vegas Magic series, and her offering rounds out the cast of alpha males with an oh-so-sexy vampire bartender who isn't exactly what he seems. Coupling him with the sweet and quirky Arianna makes for a delightful read that will keep you turning the pages until you finish the story!
