The World's Tragedy ReviewThis is a play written by Aleister Crowley that was never put into production. I was a theater student back in high school and I would say compared to more mainstream stuff like Shakspear this holds up surprisingly well as the writer, prophet Crowley, was an intelligent and charismatic man and a master of the English language. It is one of the worst stabs at Christianity ever penned. Crowley is somewhere between a mainstream literary genius and a legitimate psychopath. But after a lot of reading and research it makes me wonder if Crowley is really nothing more than hip and clever. If you're seriously interested in the occult the best source is Aleister Crowley- he didn't care as much whether or not he was so cool and what people thought of him and ironicly he ended up becoming an icon. The World's Tragedy Overview

Mind into Matter: A New Alchemy of Science and Spirit ReviewFred Alan Wolf's done it again! His latest book, MIND INTO MATTER, is a masterpiece of insight into the hidden workings of our magical, mysterious universe. As I read this book, I felt exhilarated to join Wolf on his journey "to find our mind" on the frontier of the imaginal and the real.
MIND INTO MATTER is structured around Wolf's explanation of the significance and meaning behind the first nine letter-symbols in the Hebrew alphabet, with a separate chapter devoted to each Hebrew letter. The book begins with the concept of Spirit within the Void, and continues onward to Creation, Animation, Resistance, Vitality, Replication, Chance, Unification, and Structure. We witness the new alchemy at work in the process of Animation, where we notice how we Think, Feel, Sense, and Intuit the world around us.
I love Wolf's playful way of describing thought experiments throughout his book, alongside fascinating research material from physicists and neurophysiological researchers that suggest how our conscious minds form memories of events. On a deep level, we are aware of all possibilities available to us, and the one we remember as being real is the one we choose to observe. Since information flows from the future to our present time, we have what we need to select the path we most desire.
To everyone who wishes to more fully grasp the breadth, depth, and height of who we truly are and how we interact with the universe, I give this book my highest recommendation.Mind into Matter: A New Alchemy of Science and Spirit Overview

The 72 Names of God: Technology for the Soul ReviewThe 72 Names of God--A Critical Review
This is a paradox for me. This is an important book (which is why I'm reviewing it) but I'm also disturbed by the economic intentions of its producers.
This is a glossy and contemporary coffee-table book. The subject matter, however, shouldn't be presented in a way that would lead anyone to think this is some kind of fad.
I think its main producer (not author) makes several interesting and true statements about how one should approach these Names. One point he unashamedly makes is that it is for everyone (regardless of one's philosophical and behavioral disposition.) I absolutely disagree as have so many credible Kabbalists throughout the past (estimated) 1800 years.
The reason for this is that these "Names" are attached to gates, "forces" that are attracted when one employs the necessary visualization and contemplative techniques. To be sure, this book presupposes that one has some familiarity with the three different types of meditation: visualization, contemplative and verbal.
There's also the interpretation of a few of the Names that is quite controversial. There are varying beliefs about the afterlife within Judaism and especially with the topic of communing with the dead. When this book first came out several years ago, I was one of the first ones to purchase it. I sent Rabbi Berg and The Kabbalah Center an email questioning the interpretation of a Name that allows for necromancy. Their curt response left a lot to be desired.
Apart from these concerns, these are, in fact, the Names that Kabbalists have maintained are the Names for Creation. Many of the Names use the same letters, and are only distinguished by permutation and the expectation that one brings.
This is not a book for everyone. One must attempt to live an upstanding life or the appeals may result in the influences from the Other Side.

Undoing Yourself With Energized Meditation & Other Devices ReviewNo book on meditation does any good, of course, unless you do the meditations themselves. I've never seen any other book on meditation, though, where the exercises were so plainly and clearly laid out. Also, the meditation style is radically different from more passive and less effective forms of meditation such as the transcendental variety, and I suspect that is due to the author's background in Reichian psychology with its emphasis on "muscular armoring." Essentially, instead of working on your brain first, the "Energized Meditation" in this book seeks to get at the mind/body connection by working on your body. Negative thought manifests itself by creating muscular blocks to the flow of energy in your body, and the exercises in this book help undo those blocks. Thus, the exercises in this book are exactly that: exercises. The combination of breathing and movement are extremely simple and easy to follow, yet the effects are so profound that you must experience them to believe them. If you've ever heard the concept "your mind can achieve the same effects as drugs without the drugs" and wondered if that was hyperbole, just try out this book and see. This book will change your life if you let it. I guess I should mention the changes--more energy, increased sense of optimism, reduction of worry freedom from neurotic attachment to dogma, and possibly a sense of humor about the human condition. As for the book itself, don't let the pages of bizarre "Discordian" and counter culture humor designed to test your addiction to dogmas put you off. The book itself may not be for everyone, but the exercises truly are. Additionally, the introduction by Robert Anton Wilson is alone worth the price of this book--its one of the best essay's of his career, and one of the best summary's of the delusion of Western thought in regards to Free Will I've ever read. Buy this mind altering book, but don't let the DEA know--they may kick in your skull and confiscate your brain: as it turns out, your mind is the greatest mind altering substance of all.Undoing Yourself With Energized Meditation & Other Devices Overview
