The Path of Alchemy: Energetic Healing & the World of Natural Magic (Pathways to Enlightenment) ReviewThe Path of Alchemy - Energetic Healing and the World of Natural Magic by Mark Stavish is simply the finest book on practical alchemy that I have ever read. While focusing on introductory material and plant work, or spagyrics, it has enough meaty stuff for everyone. There is a fascinating discussion of the role of homeopathy in alchemy; extensive meditations and practices to link laboratory work (Labora) with inner work (Ora); initiation and the Tree of Life via alchemy; and some good background material on alchemy in the 20th Century. However, even the appendices are juicy in their description of the Tarot and the Alchemical process; the famed Longevity Tea of the Comte de St-Germain, similar to the confirmed recipe found in the long out of print, and very valuable biography on St. Germain by Jean Overton Fuller, and a fascinating description of the Flamel Path, of Nicholas and Pernelle Flamel, made famous in the first Harry Potter book, "The Sorcerer's Stone". If you are going to read just one book on alchemy this year, or ever, I suggest "The Path of Alchemy".
P.S. Speaking as someone with next to no background in the Art, Mark Stavish has delivered a user friendly manual that renders the most obscure and complex material in plain language. However, this does not imply that the work is simplistic. As the Alchemists say, it requires both prayer and labor, "ora et labora".The Path of Alchemy: Energetic Healing & the World of Natural Magic (Pathways to Enlightenment) Overview

The Magical and Ritual Use of Aphrodisiacs ReviewOne of the 8 ways of raising power in a circle is with the use of "herbs, incense, drugs, and alcohol". Very few practitioners explore this possibility as it has it's dangers. Even fewer books actually talk about their use. This is a good starting point for folks who wish to explore that method of raising power, and to do it SAFELY. A must have for any good worting witch. The Magical and Ritual Use of Aphrodisiacs Overview

Herbal Magick ReviewHERBAL MAGICK is both literate and entertaining reading. Well written, the book is an invaluable reference & resource on herbs, and related items. Dunwich's magickal memories of her late Grandma Rose is interesting autobiographical writing which gives insights into the importance of herbal living. Of all the many books I have read over the past 20 years concerning the magickal use of herbs, Gerina Dunwich's book is the most accurate and up to date book I have seen published in 2002. This book is packed-full of useful information for all types of people curious about the world of herbs. The folklore information in this book alone makes it unique, and a great reference to have on hand. Chapter 13 concerning gods and goddesses is detailed and accurate information that will come in handy for many a season! Chapter 1 concerns pagan herb lore. Every chapter is filled with useful information. There are numerous spells in this book, and each one serves a different need. If you are new to herbal studies or new to the writings of Gerina Dunwich, this book is the place to start. You can't go wrong with this book because it is honest, accurate, well-researched, and enjoyable reading. The chapters on healing by root and flower, and herbs of the ancient sorcerers, are among the finest written on the subject matter. Gerina's finest book to date! Excellent. I wish her continued success. Reviewed by LEE PROSSER, author of ISHERWOOD, BOWLES, VEDANTA, WICCA, AND ME.Herbal Magick Overview

The Real Witches' Kitchen: Spells, Recipes, Oils, Lotions and Potions from the Witches' Hearth ReviewThis book is FULL of wonderful recipes & is a great companion to the Real Witches Handbook. For those not familiar with Kate West, she's a Brit high priestest & writer. Her books are easy to read & well organized for both beginner & advanced students.
Because her work is read in different countries all over the world, there are 1-2 measurement units that require conversion to US standards. But these are simple elementary conversions. However the bulk of her recipes are in standard formats any wiccan would find in any other book. The oils, teas, & bath products recipes are given in drops, tsp, & tbsp (standard). The dry insence, potpourri, & herb recipes are given in parts (standard).
The only "tricky" measurements are in the food recipes. Since some but not all of her readers are American, she gives recipes in standard units that are familiar to most countries. (All Europeans, Austrailians, & Americans are familiar with pints.) If you prefer your measures in cups, then just remember back to 5th grade math: 1 (british)pint=2.5cups (1 US pint=2cups). And if you look right there on your measuring cup, you will probably have measurements for ounces listed right along side the cup measurements since 8oz=1cup. Or you can simply remember: 1 oz=2 tbsp
This is not rocket science, folks, so don't be scared off by customer reviews complaining about having to do simple conversions. Many times, Ms. West supplies conversions for you, such as a Harvest Moonshine recipe with calls for "8 pints (20 cups) water". Really, the pints measurements are the only "confusing" aspect, (if you are so inclined to be confused).
ALL US recipes use cups, tbsp, tsp, drops, pinches, pounds, ounces, & parts......and so does Ms. West. However, if you prefer your recipes in a different format than given, you can always write down your own version in your Book of Shadows. I had no problems following the recipes though.
This book has so many great recipes & craft/gift ideas it would be a shame to allow fear of simple math to scare you away. Here is a review of the Chapters & content which will hopefully help you in your decision on whether you would like this book:

Simple Spells for Success: Ancient Practices for Creating Abundance and Prosperity ReviewI really enjoyed this book. I own a lot of spell books and what separates this from all the others is its simplicity. Dolnick tells you why you are doing the spell and exactly how and when to do it. The only thing I found missing was a further explanation as to why particular flowers or herbs were used and if we could substitute (i.e., some flowers are expensive and not always in season). There is little-to-no spiritual reference in this book so you do not have to be Wiccan or Pagan to appreciate it (Wiccans/Pagans may miss the witchy atmosphere as I did at first); Dolnick mainly relies on astrological information and herb/color lore - again, without much explanation (my opinion, the only failing of the book). If you like your spells with a little more flexibility, you may feel a bit constrained. I like that there are spells to work during the waxing and waning moons and that prosperity can be about letting go of fear as well as drawing opportunities. I am very glad that I purchased this book.Simple Spells for Success: Ancient Practices for Creating Abundance and Prosperity Overview
