Simplified Qabala Magic ReviewIn the past, I've found Jewish Kabbalah books long on rhetoric, long on history but short on practical application and personal development. Not being particular, I switched over to the magical tradition. The first (magical) book I tried reading--Gareth Knight's book, A Practical Guide to Qabalistic Symbolism--went right over my head. By then, I realized I was really a beginner: I didn't even know how to meditate or visualize...or anything.
Simplified (Qabala) Magic by Ted Andrews helped me out a great deal. Not only did it make the Tree of Life platable for a budding magus, it suppled me with simple meditation and visualization techniques, tips on candle-color-fragrance selection, and even showed me how to pronounce/intone the sephiroth God-names. Generally, I appreciate his brief and gentle approach.
This book, IMHO, is useful to those who want a straightforward, practical approach to the Tree of Life. Add to it, Andrew's More Simplified Magic (which covers the Tree's paths), one would then have all he initially needs to enter the mystical qabalah.Simplified Qabala Magic Overview

The Path of Alchemy: Energetic Healing & the World of Natural Magic (Pathways to Enlightenment) ReviewThe Path of Alchemy - Energetic Healing and the World of Natural Magic by Mark Stavish is simply the finest book on practical alchemy that I have ever read. While focusing on introductory material and plant work, or spagyrics, it has enough meaty stuff for everyone. There is a fascinating discussion of the role of homeopathy in alchemy; extensive meditations and practices to link laboratory work (Labora) with inner work (Ora); initiation and the Tree of Life via alchemy; and some good background material on alchemy in the 20th Century. However, even the appendices are juicy in their description of the Tarot and the Alchemical process; the famed Longevity Tea of the Comte de St-Germain, similar to the confirmed recipe found in the long out of print, and very valuable biography on St. Germain by Jean Overton Fuller, and a fascinating description of the Flamel Path, of Nicholas and Pernelle Flamel, made famous in the first Harry Potter book, "The Sorcerer's Stone". If you are going to read just one book on alchemy this year, or ever, I suggest "The Path of Alchemy".
P.S. Speaking as someone with next to no background in the Art, Mark Stavish has delivered a user friendly manual that renders the most obscure and complex material in plain language. However, this does not imply that the work is simplistic. As the Alchemists say, it requires both prayer and labor, "ora et labora".The Path of Alchemy: Energetic Healing & the World of Natural Magic (Pathways to Enlightenment) Overview

The Witch's Dream: A Healer's Way of Knowledge (Compass) ReviewI can't leave this marvelous book with a couple of limited reviews here at Amazon, even though it's been ten years since I last read it. Donner's story is simply a great human story; it's really about becoming more human. It's about the simple necessities in life, about the choices we are forced to make when choices are most limited, and about the life we find through that "cubic centimeter of chance." It gets outside -- thank God! -- the crime and punishment limited mentality of America....and of course that is why such a book will bore some readers and frighten others. The Witch's Dream: A Healer's Way of Knowledge (Compass) Overview

Ghost Symptoms: Break The Spell And Be Well ReviewI'm very grateful for your book on spirit attachments Kelly. I'm a Breathwork practitioner, and have used a similar model over the years in my personal and professional practice. It's incredibly helpful to have this work written down, so well explained and easily accessible. I'm especially grateful for your experience and insight into the common physical manifestations of attachments, and I really love the ordinary-ness of your approach - that these things just are, and should be part of our understanding of who we are and how things work.
I appreciate also the simple and practical tools you offer for working with attachments and clearing them, in a loving and compassionate way.
I highly recommend this book to health practitioners, and to anyone who is open to methods of healing outside the dominant paradigm. It works.

The Healing Spell ReviewThe first word that comes to mind after reading this short is, DAMN!
The Healing Spell is one hot read.
David has been feeling down in the dumps for quite awhile when Samantha enters his life promising him a total sexual cleansing to help him get his life back on track. As a witch she leads him into a spiritual ritual based on sexual energy to help him fulfill his bodies needs.
She Gives him a talismen afterwards to keep with him always as a contstant reminder, but David then shocks her once he reveals he wants so much more.
The only thing I would have requested was to make this story longer, which is definitely a good thing. It was that good, and I wanted more. The Healing Spell Overview"Samantha, a confident witch, is eager to help David, a creatively frustrated ad executive she happens upon. She proposes a daring venture in which she will lead him through the steps of a sexual magic spell with the intent to heal him. Instantly mesmerized by her beauty and knowledge, he soon learns that pleasure is magick as they create an energy circle by bathing, massaging and arousing one another in various positions.Yet, once the spell has been completed, he finds he cannot just take his talisman and walk away from her, and the witch finds her carefully protected heart on the line. When the tables turn will David be able to teach the teacher a thing or two about romance'"

The Real Witches' Book of Spells and Rituals ReviewI purchased this book as someone studying the craft as a solitary. The books I've read up until this one have been written for solitaries. I purchased this one because the books I'd read only briefly referenced covens or said that traditionally you had to be in a coven to be a witch. Since Covens were obviously a vital part of beleifs, history, and traditions, I saught out a book that would set the record strait on what covens really do.
This book delivers. It's written primarily as a guide for a High Priestess. It describes in detail the life cycle of a coven, what kind of rules a coven should have, how dicipline works, how advancement in the circle works, and which rituals typically require people to be naked.
She describes and suggests some common sabbat rituals, as well as an initiation ritual and a few other coven rituals. She talks a lot about the level of secrecy that should be kept about you coven. If you want to start a coven this is probably THE BOOK for you to read. It's also very informative if you want to join a coven. As far as information on the craft in general, there's some good stuff on the sabbats, but this isn't really a good book to read if you're "just curious about witchcraft"
As a pleasant surprise, I found that Kate West is quite probably the most practical author on Witchcraft you could find. She deals with the effects of real life on the Craft on how these two parts of your life can effect each other. (While many authors tend to simply mention that the craft will make you more confident in your daily life.)
A really good book, and I plan to read another book by the author. The Real Witches' Book of Spells and Rituals Overview

Witch's Brew: Good Spells for Healing ReviewThis small book is powerfully whimsical, feminine and captivating. It is an enjoyable read of 88 pages that keeps you wanting more. Witch Bree uses ingredients that can easily be found in your kitchen or easily purchased at a health food store. Her chants and prayers are poetic and easy to memorize. Her book contains remedies for securing the home, staying healthy, spa like treatments using essentials oils and how to universally heal the earth. Also, there is a section on how to create a sacred workspace. It brings out the good witch in all of us. The only thing missing is the fairy dust.Witch's Brew: Good Spells for Healing Overview

Encyclopedia of 5,000 Spells ReviewJust a helpful tip to whoever originated this page for the author. Perhaps I didn't see this in the reviews for this particular book (nor did I see this while reading the description for this particular book) that this is actually a DUPLICATE of the ELEMENT ENCYCLOPEDIA OF 5,000 SPELLS. Both have the same author listed, have different covers. Please be careful to make it clear going forward, because simply having a review that talks of the Element book under the 'plain' 5,000 spells title is not really all that crystal clear. It is not cool to have two copies of the same book, people don't have that kind of money to spend. Now I now have both copies of the same book. Luckily it's a book I use and the first one was falling apart, so I will not send this second one back. Please be careful with your advertising and be clear.
